Moong Dal Halwa is a delicacy of the state of Rajasthan. It is a rich, creamy and pudding-like dessert. Made with split yellow moong dal, this is a popular and delicious dessert for the festivals, Indian weddings, parties etc.
- 1/2 Bowl Split Yellow Moong Dal
- 1/2 Bowl Sugar
- 1/2 Bowl Desi Ghee
- 1 Tsp Green Cardamom (Choti Elaichi) Powder
- Some Pistachio (Pista)
- Resins( kishmish)
- Almonds (Badam)
- 5 cups challah (about 8 oz)
1Clean the yellow moong dal and soak it for 8 hours.After 8 hours it will become nearly double .Grind it .
2Heat the pan and take some desi ghee .
Melt it.Add the moong dal paste .Stir it well so that lumps will not form .
Keep on stirring so that dal will not stick to the pan and burn .Cook it till ghee completely disappeared .
3 Now make the Sugar syrup . For that take the saucepan , add 1 bowl of water , 1/2 bowl of sugar , 1 Tsp cardamom powder , kesar and let it to be boil . cook for 2 mins after boiling .
4Add the sugar syrup to the moong dal and keep on stirring . When you car adding the sugar syrup , take precautions .Go back one step behind while adding as the heat and bubbles will come out while adding.
4 Add Raisins while cooking . Let it to be cook for 10 mins . Keep on stirring . Add Pista and Almonds now .
5 Moong dal halwa is now ready to serve . Garnish the halwa with pista and Almonds .
