Masala chai ( “mixed-spice tea”) is a flavoured tea beverage made by brewing black tea with a mixture of aromatic Indian spices and herbs. Originating in the Indian subcontinent, the beverage has gained worldwide popularity, becoming a feature in many coffee and tea houses. Although traditionally prepared as a decoction of green cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks, ground cloves, ground ginger, and black peppercorn together with black tea leaves, retail versions include tea bags for infusion, instant powdered mixtures, and concentrates. Masala tea is one of the famous beverage in India .Most people likes to take masala tea very morning . This goes best with samosa , batata vada , chi wada , chakoli most of the Indian snacks. The term “chai” originated from the Hindustani word “chai”, which was derived from the Chinese word for tea, known as “cha”. In English, this spiced tea is commonly referred to as masala chai or simply chai, though the term refers to tea in general in the original language. Numerous coffee houses use the term chai latte or chai tea latte (essentially meaning “tea tea milk”) for their version to indicate that the steamed milk, much like a regular caffè latte, is mixed with a spiced tea concentrate instead of espresso.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Water
  • 1/2 cup Full Cream Milk
  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Black Tea
  • 1 Stick Cinnamon (Dalchini)
  • 2 Cardamom(Choti Elaichi)
  • 1 Star Anise (Chakraphul)
  • 1 Inch Ginger (Adarak)
  • 6-8 Black Pepper (Kali Mirch)
  • 4 Cloves(Laung)

Directions

1 In a small saucepan, add 2 cups of water and let it to boil . Now add Cinnamon, Cardamom , Cloves, Black Pepper, Star Anise , and grated Ginger. Simmer it at medium flame for 5 mins so that all ingredients can add the flavours to water.

2 Now add Black tea powder and sugar . simmer it for 2 mins. Now add 1/2 cup of milk . Boil it at medium flame. When gets perfect tea colour switch of the gas . Stain the tea directly into the serving by using the strainer . Serve hot with some snacks.

3 You can adjust the amount of sugar . If you like black tea without milk , add 1 1/2 Tsp of black tea .These spices are hot in texture so good in winter.

4 Also can be use as the home remedy for the flu ,cought and cold . Serve hot with most of the India snacks like samosa,kachodi,batata vada and many more.
